Justice League Dark concept art reveals the movie that might have been Last summer , filmmaker Joseph Kahn ( Torque ,  Detention ,  Bodied ) revealed that he had previously pitched on the long in-development Justice League Dark and offered a sneak peek at an animation test he had created to show Swamp Thing in action. Now, the director has taken to Twitter to reveal even more about his rejected pitch for the film, including pieces of concept art he had created along with his “wishlist” actors for the various roles. Abrams just pitched his Star Wars: Episode IX to Disney With Lucasfilm‘s  Star Wars: The Last Jedi exploding across the global box office with the second-largest opening weekend of all-time (over $450 million globally), fans already see  Episode VIII in the rear-view mirror and are looking forward to Star Wars Saga capper,  Episode IX . Now MakingStarWars is reporting that during the press conference for the recent Disney/Fox merger, Disney CEO Bob Iger stated on December 14 that “J.J. This weekend is a very exciting one for Star Wars fans, as the Rian Johnson's Star Wars: The Last Jedi finally arrived in theaters. The highly anticipated sequel continues the franchise's main narrative, picking up shortly after the events of The Force Awakens . The film also carries extra emotional weight, as it's the last appearance Carrie Fisher will have as General Leia, following her untimely death one year ago. Leia got some pretty exciting moments in The Last Jedi , and it turns out that her beloved dog Gary seemed to enjoy seeing her face on the silver screen. According to one report at the World Premiere, Gary's ears perked up every time Carrie flashed on screen as her signature character.

The Star Wars: The Last Jedi Visual Dictionary is filled with behind-the-scenes trivia and factoids about the sequels characters, vehicles, and location. DJ has his own two-page entry in the book (via CBR), which sheds some more light on his backstory and motivations. To DJ, "larger causes are for fools," and he views society as just one big machine looking to turn everyone into another cog. These causes are no different in his eyes since they all ultimately "chew up their followers with the same disinterest." He even has the words "Don't Join" written on his hat.

It's been a crazy week for nerd culture. In addition to the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi , Marvel and 20th Century Fox have reportedly landed a deal to merge the studios. This has implications extending to movies, streaming services, and TV, but the most publicized issue is related to how this may expand the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fans have been hoping for Fox's characters like the X-Men and Fantastic Four to eventually join the MCU, alongside Marvel's other signature characters. Sony made a deal with Disney for shared custody of Spider-Man, and now we'll see other favorites like Deadpool, The X-Men, and maybe even the New Mutants join the larger shared universe. And Marvel legend Stan Lee couldn't be happier; Lee recently spoke about the Disney/Fox deal, exclaiming:

Is That The Last We Will See Of Luke? Given the grand finale that Star Wars: The Last Jedi gives Luke Skywalker, it has us wondering whether or not we will ever actually see Mark Hamill return as the farmboy turned Jedi Master in a future film. The way he fades away seems to indicate that he may eventually turn into a Force Ghost in the same way that Yoda and Obi-Wan both transformed upon their respective deaths, which would open a possible door for him to return and guide Rey through the remainder of her Jedi training. It would make sense, given the history of the franchise as well as the fact that Carrie Fisher is no longer around to play her role, but it could also cheapen Luke's final stand.

Of course, we naturally recognize the fact that nobody involved in Star Wars: The Last Jedi could've anticipated the passing of Carrie Fisher. Her death came out of nowhere for fans, and it's entirely possible that there was no way to give her a proper sendoff in The Last Jedi that would efficiently cap off her arc. Having said that, if Episode VIII had used this effective way to retire Leia, it could've gone down as the most iconic, epic, and all-around badass death in the history of the entire Star Wars universe.

Hopefully, Karen Gillan's excitement for the casting prompts her to ring up the Doctor Who staff and talk about Amy Pond making a comeback! It would take a bit of creative storytelling to work Gillan's character back into the story, but with time travel, anything is possible. If not that, maybe Gillan can jump back into the series in a guest-star role as another one-off character?

Recently, the Netflix Twitter account has been having some fun posting about the 53 people who watched the much-maligned original Netflix Christmas movie, The Christmas Prince , every day for the past 18 days. The Netflix account wrote "who hurt you?" which prompted a post to Reddit titled "At least they care." It was on this thread that a Reddit user going by the name "King-Salamander" wrote about his own experience with Netflix customer service. The Redditor writes that he suffers from depression, and during a particularly bad spell a few years ago, watched the entirety of The Office in maybe 5-10 days.

There are few TV shows as massively popular as Game of Thrones . HBO's fantasy drama accrued millions of loyal viewers every year, with new seasons historically hitting during other shows' summer hiatus. The show is known for its fantastic performances, as well as character driven tale of medieval war and supernatural elements. As such, we've seen plenty of major characters bite the dust over the past seven seasons, with the impending final season no doubt providing many more heartbreaking deaths. Actors on Game generally know their days are numbered, and one star has been waiting to be killed off basically since he entered.

Lost isn't the only notable title leaving Netflix in January either, as a couple other shows join the list in getting pulled at the beginning of 2018. Among them, Law & Order: SVU is getting Seasons 14-16 dropped on Monday, January 1st, which is surely a disappointment for crime lovers. Monday, January 15 will see Sirens Seasons 1-2 getting pulled, and Saturday, January 30 the last remaining Futurama Seasons 7-10 close out the month for television shows pulled by Netflix. Overall, it's not one of the months where Netflix pulled a lot of television from its service, but the streaming giant certainly is pulling some well-received shows this go around.

Of course, the struggle would be finding a way for Kevin Hart's Mrs. Doubtfire to survive without endless comparisons to the original film. This is exactly what Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle has managed to do. Because while nods and references to the original Robin Williams film are made, Welcome to the Jungle succeeds by crafting an entirely different movie. The characters, game, setting, and tone are all vastly different from the OG Jumanji , allowing the sequel to function independently from the original, and therefore being vindicated of comparisons.

We have been weighing in on Star Wars: The Last Jedi for a few days now, with our official review, numerous features and exciting videos. But now we want to turn this space over to you guys! The film, initially, is proving to be quite divisive. But that's on Twitter... where everything is divisive. The reaction seems to be a preference either toward the blockbuster tendencies of The Force Awakens , or the weightier subversion of The Last Jedi . And this is a debate that I think Star Wars fans will continue to have for years to come.

However, even the mighty Galactus pales in comparison to the X-Men's Doop! Doop, a nonsensical character with ill-defined powers, logic, and his own language, was practically made for James Gunn and the writer-director reminded everyone that Doop could now be in the MCU in another post to his Twitter account.

When inspiration strikes, you must grasp it, lest it vanish forever. Author J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series of books took the world by storm, spawning an insanely successful film series, a play, video games, toys, theme park sections, and countless other products and ideas. Harry Potter is a brand unto itself and has become a literary and pop culture touchstone for an entire generation. J.K. Rowling's work now finds itself among distinguished company and has the pop culture resonance, influence and everlasting qualities also found in the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, George Lucas and Stan Lee. It perhaps would not be so had the author not seized on inspiration using any means necessary. As she tells it, the best thing she ever wrote wasn't exactly put on the finest of stationary. She recently revealed:

Star Wars: The Last Jedi has been overshadowed by the death of Carrie Fisher in some ways. Her passing has led to a lot of questions about how the trilogy will move forward into Star Wars Episode IX . In addition, the lack of Carrie Fisher has been felt, at press events, among the cast and crew and in general in relation to the future of the Star Wars universe. For last night's premiere, however, one theater found a way to really commemorate Carrie Fisher in a memorable way. The TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood created a special plaque for Fisher on the property. You can check it out, below, and don't worry, we'll stay spoiler-free in this article, too.

In an interview with The Guardian, Mark Hamill recounted how there was an attraction with Carrie Fisher. However, Hamill knew that on set relationships don't have the best track record of working out, so no real relationship was ever formed. That doesn't mean the two actors completely avoided the sexual tension, as Hamill says they had one -- possibly drunken -- make-out session. According to Hamill, it didn't go farther than that and once it was, "out of our systems," he says. Mostly, on the set of the Star Wars movies, they became close friends.

Throughout the bulk of the film's story, we're led to believe that Amilyn Holdo is not to be trusted, and a danger to the best-laid plans of Poe Dameron. However, by the time the film's third act kicks into high gear, we learn that Admiral Holdo was not only right in her assessment of the film's central space battle between The Force Order and The Resistance, but she was also a true hero in a more diplomatic and nuanced way than we're used to seeing from a Star Wars movie. She was willing to play the bad guy to serve a greater good ultimately, and that's indicative of where these films seem to want to go. It's not just about good versus evil, or Light versus Dark. It's about more three-dimensional characters acting in ways that are based on their specific personalities.

However, even without that arachnophobia-inducing trap at his disposal, Macaulay Culkin still managed to deliver a phenomenal Home Alone tribute just in time for the holidays. It is a delightful homage that has our nostalgia glands pumping, and a wonderful reminder of the power that certain movies have to infiltrate our collective pop culture consciousness. Now, if you will excuse me, I am going to go dust off my personal copy of Home Alone ahead of next week's holiday.

It's been a long and harrowing few months in the worlds of entertainment and politics. Following the myriad accusations of sexual misconduct and assault toward Harvey Weinstein, the mogul producer was fired from his own company, as well as his position in the film Academy. Since then the floodgates have opened, with new powerful men being accused of sexual misconduct every few days. But the Weinstein scandal is what started it all, and information about his possible abuse of power is still trickling out. The most recent development comes from director Peter Jackson, who was reportedly told not to hire actresses Ashley Judd and Mira Sorvino in his Lord of the Rings trilogy. He now believes this was part of a smear campaign to discredit and disavow Weintein's accusers.

The long-awaited second season of Trollhunters has finally been released on Netflix to tell more of the tales of Jim, his friends, and a whole bunch of trolls around the town of Arcadia. The Emmy-winning animated series comes from the minds of Guillermo del Toro as well as Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim. The voice cast boasts the likes of Kelsey Grammer, the late Anton Yelchin, Clancy Brown, Steven Yeun, and (new to Season 2) Mark Hamill himself. Mario Batali's termination certainly seems to put The Chew in a funny place, considering its long history on the air. Earlier this year host Daphne Oz departed the series after six season, changing the hosting panel from five to four. And with Mario Batali fired amid allegations, all that is left is Michael Symon, Carla Hall, and moderator Clinton Kelly ( What Not To Wear ). It's currently unclear if ABC plans to bring in any new blood, although that would be key if The Chew is to continue. Part of the appeal of the series is all the different opinions and chefs. There are only two cooks on the panel at the moment, which is no doubt making a stressful work environment for the remaining hosts.
